A Russian fighter jet buzzed a U.S. Navy surveillance plane over the Baltic Sea, a move that military officials labeled "unprofessional" but "safe," according to reports.
The Russian Su-27 came within 20 feet of the P-8 spy plane, both Fox News and CNN are reporting, citing U.S. officials.
However, the Navy pilots said they never felt threatened or unsafe, Fox reports.
"U.S. Navy ships and aircraft routinely interact with military units from other countries," Lt. Cdr. Zach Harrell, a spokesman for U.S. Naval Forces Europe, told CNN.
