The mainstream media is positively "gleeful" over Donald Trump's sharp-edged attack on rival Ben Carson in a 95-minute stump speech in Iowa – but Trump's blast was nothing he hasn't said before, commentator Rush Limbaugh says.
During his
daily radio show, Limbaugh said there've been "countless times in the past where Trump has behaved in ways people found questionable, and thought that would be the end of it."
"I haven't seen anything in his tirade that he hasn't said before," Limbaugh said, adding however, "many people think Trump does that all the time, but this seemed a little bit more disjointed than usual."
Limbaugh said, however, the mainstream media – which he's dubbed "the Drive-Bys" – apparently thinks Trump's controversial Iowa speech spells his end "again."
"The inside the Beltway Republican establishment, they're gleeful," he said. "They are just ecstatic. They think this is it. The big moment that they've just known was gonna happen happened."
Showing a montage of 11 commentators talking about the speech, Limbaugh mocked:
"So it was a tirade. I guess we gather that from the Drive-Bys."
"So somewhere it went out: 'You all are gonna describe it as a tirade,' and they all dutifully described it as a tirade, and they did so happily," he charged.
"They can't wait. They just can't wait," he added. "This is it. They knew it. It was always gonna happen…."
