TV's "Roseanne" will likely continue its shift away from politics next season, ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey said.

Dungey's comments were reported by Variety.

Variety noted the show has won acclaim and has also been the target of criticism for its depiction of conservative views. The show often reflects the political leanings of its star, Roseanne Barr.

"I think that they're going to stay on the path that they were on toward the end of last season, which is away from politics and toward family," Dungey said

President Donald Trump had called Barr to offer his congratulations on the return of her comedy series back in March.
