Actress and comedian Roseanne Barr said she plans to travel to Israel to study for a few months and will not be in the U.S. when the spin-off series of her canceled show is aired in October.
Appearing on podcast hosted by Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, Barr said, "I have an opportunity to go to Israel for a few months and study with my favorite teachers over there, and that's where I'm going to go."
ABC canceled Barr's original show Roseanne after she posted on Twitter comments that included racial slurs directed towards former President Barack Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, People reported.
A spin-off series, The Conners, which follows Roseanne’s family, but removes her from the plot, is scheduled to air in October.
Barr said on the podcast that her friends told her she made a "fatal mistake" by apologizing to the Left for her comments, because "Once you apologize to them they never forgive, they just try to beat you down until you don’t exist. That’s how they do things. They don’t accept apologies."
Speaking about the upcoming spinoff, Barr said, "I’m not going to curse it or bless it. I’m staying neutral... That’s what I gotta do. I have some mental health issues of depression and stuff. I got to stay in the middle or I’ll go dark, and I don’t want to go dark again."
The Jerusalem Post noted that just a few months ago at the newspaper’s annual conference in New York in April, Barr stated that she "wants to move to Israel and run for prime minister."
