Democratic candidates will outdo each other trying to "out-Bernie Bernie" with their "radical ideas" now that Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders has mounted his second campaign for the presidential nomination, Republican National Committee Chairman Ronna McDaniel said Wednesday.

"Bernie Sanders will force Democrats to lurch further to the progressive side of the Democratic Party," McDaniel told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "The American people have to look at these radical ideas and what it will do to our economy, versus the results of this administration, wages up, jobs up. Our country is doing phenomenally well. Why would we want to change that?"

Sanders raised $4 million in the first hours after his announcement, and McDaniel acknowledged that is a "good haul."

"It is significantly more than Kamala Harris raised her first day," said McDaniel.

Meanwhile, she said she thinks all the Democratic candidates so far are "terrible," but she wants a "long, drawn-out primary."

"I want it to go well into the summer of 2020 so that it takes them a long time to pick their candidate," said McDaniel. "I know President (Donald) Trump is going to win. Look at what he has done for this country and what they're offering. It is frightening what they are offering."

Democrats, meanwhile, are using "identity politics" that "rip our nation apart," said McDaniel, pointing out that "Joe Biden didn't think it was xenophobia when he voted in 2006 for the Secure Fences Act."
