Political consultant Roger Stone said Monday there is no way he would ever testify against President Donald Trump if he winds up getting indicted as part of the Russia probe.
"There is no circumstance in which I intend to be pressured in order to testify against the president," Stone said during an appearance on CNN. "First of all, I have nothing that I could say about him that would be negative. Secondarily, I'm just not going to do that.
"I wouldn't rule out cooperating with the special counsel if I can be helpful in some area, but there is no circumstance under which I would testify against the president."
Several people close to Stone have been interviewed by special counsel Robert Mueller's team, which is investigating whether the Trump campaign had improper ties to Russia.
Stone, who some have alleged might have been a conduit between the Trump campaign and Russia, has not yet been interviewed by Mueller. But he said his financial burden to comply with document requests, having legal representation, and appearing in front of congressional committees could reach $2 million.
