Sen. Rick Scott, R-Fla., told Newsmax TV on Thursday the Senate will not hear from additional witnesses in President Donald Trump's impeachment trial, which he predicted will end Friday with Trump's acquittal.
"I believe we're not going to have witnesses," Scott told "American Agenda," adding he predicts the Senate will hold a vote Friday where they will reject witnesses, and will then hold a vote to acquit Trump.
When asked if he wanted to hear from former National Security Adviser John Bolton, Scott said, "Democrats had their chance, they could have subpoenaed him, and they're the ones who elected not to subpoena him. It's not our job to prove the Democrats' case."
He added, Democrats will continue to find new information in order to drag out impeachment, saying "this will go on and on, this is the Democrats' playbook."
He said, "the public sees what's going on here, that this is just a game, and I think everybody's saying, 'that's enough, let's get this behind us,' that's why I believe, [Friday] night, when we take the vote on whether we're going to have witnesses, we're not going to take more witnesses. We're going to get this behind us so we can go back to the work of the American public."
