House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy is promising to reprimand Democrats "in the very near future" for having an anti-gun sit in during chamber proceedings last June.
"Are you going to let the House stand with that behavior going forward?" McCarthy asked Tuesday, the Washington Examiner reports. "I think you'd create real damage to the House going forward, in the long term."
McCarthy maintains Democrats broke "a number of rules" when held the protest on the chamber floor late last June — singing civil rights songs and chanting.
The protest was aired live on C-SPAN and Democrats, in violation of House rules, live-streamed the action from the chamber, where use of electronic media is prohibited.
According to the California GOP lawmaker, "a number of Democrats" told him, "it's true we broke the rules and we should be held accountable ... we should have to sustain punishment in that respect," the Examiner reports.
"The investigation is coming to an end and the appropriate judgement will be coming forward," he added.
