Rep. Mark Green, R-Tenn., is forcing a House vote on a resolution referring President Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen to the Justice Department for a perjury investigation, The Washington Times is reporting.
Green had introduced a privileged resolution on Tuesday. Under House rules, it must be speedily disposed. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., said lawmakers would vote on the resolution on Wednesday, according to the Times.
Roll Call reported that Republicans have accused Cohen of committing perjury when he testified before the House Oversight Committee in February. They claim he was not truthful when he told committee members “I never asked for not would I accept” a pardon from the president.
Democrats are not expected to support the resolution against Cohen and view GOP’s efforts against Cohen as a publicity stunt, Roll Call reported.
