Rep. Andy Biggs said Monday he considers fellow Rep. Justin Amash a friend, but he's "clearly" wrong with his comments that special counsel Robert Mueller's report showed impeachable actions on the part of President Donald Trump.
"The reality is there was no collusion, there was no conspiracy," Biggs, R-Ariz., told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "The obstruction charge, I mean, to have the obstruction, you need a crime or an underlying crime. There was no underlying crime. He wasn't obstructing."
On Sunday, Amash, R-Mich., tweeted that he thinks Attorney General William Barr "deliberately misrepresented" Mueller's findings and that the report shows behavior and actions that "meet the threshold for impeachment."
Biggs added that he was "amazed" when he'd heard Amash claimed few people in Congress read the Mueller report.
"Everybody I know who is talking about this publicly and in private to me about this, we have all read the report," said Biggs. "We have compared notes. We've tried to interpret what we think are strong and weak points...I was floored by his conclusions. I disagree with him wholeheartedly."
Biggs said he has not had a chance to speak with Amash about his comments and doesn't know about his motive or why he's split with other Republicans about the report.
Meanwhile, former White House counsel Don McGahn has been subpoenaed to testify before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, but Biggs said he doubts he'll show.
"I'm prepared with the questions I want to ask Mr. McGahn," he said. "I have ideas what I want to ask him. But I think that privilege will be asserted and he won't be there."
