Reince Priebus' departure as White House chief of staff is imminent, Erick Erickson of The Resurgent reported.
While he said he doesn't know who the new chief of staff will be, he did say he knows who it won't be — Steve Bannon.
One rumored replacement is lobbyist David Urban, who once served as chief of staff to the late Sen. Arlen Specter.
"Choosing Urban would be bringing the swamp into the White House instead of draining it," Erickson wrote.
President Donald Trump wants to find a new role for Priebus within the administration, Erickson reported.
The reported move comes a few days after the resignation of White House communications director Mike Dubke, and amid the swirling rumors that more changes were afoot once Trump returned from his first foreign trip.
"I like Reince. Many, if not most of my conservative friends do not," Erickson wrote. "But Reince always struck me as more with us than against us and in a position to help where he could. I wish he had been able to actually be the Chief of Staff in practice. I suspect the White House would be less chaotic."
