A controversial freshman congresswoman is taking issue with how the U.S. Capitol Police handled a group of anti-Trump protesters.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., reacted to the arrest of eight people with this tweet, which was a response to another tweet about the incident:
"This is ridiculous. This is the people's House and they have every right to demand accountability of this lawless President."
According to Roll Call, the protesters were chanting "Ain't no power like the power of the people, because the power of the people don't stop" and were holding signs that said, "Time to impeach."
The U.S. Capitol Police arrested roughly 20 people at the protest in the Cannon rotunda. The group calls itself By the People.
Tlaib, who is Muslim, has drawn fire from Republicans and her other critics for some of her past comments. She was sharply criticized for making remarks about the Holocaust on Sunday.
Tlaib has repeatedly called on the House to investigate President Donald Trump for a possible impeachment case.
