A majority of American voters say President Donald Trump is unfit to be president, according to the latest Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.
Further, his approval rating is at 36 percent with 57 percent disapproving of the job Trump is doing, according to the survey.
Other results, according to Quinnipiac:
- 56 percent say Trump is not fit to be president.
- 57 percent of Independents say he's not fit.
- 63 percent of women say not fit; men are evenly split.
- 60 percent of Hispanic voters say not fit.
- 50 of white voters say he is fit; 48 percent say not fit.
"There is no upside. With an approval rating frozen in the mid-30s, his character and judgment questioned, President Donald Trump must confront the harsh fact that the majority of American voters feel he is simply unfit to serve in the highest office in the land," said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll.
Further, 62 percent surveyed disagree with how Trump is handling race relations, including 55 percent of whites polled.
"A divider, responsible for the deepening chasm of racial discord. That is the inescapable characterization of President Trump from voters who see race relations deteriorating on his watch," Malloy said.
Other results:
- 61 percent say Trump is a strong person.
- 67 percent say he is not level-headed.
- 55 percent say he is intelligent.
- 60 percent say he does not have good leadership skills.
Quinnipiac University surveyed 1,412 voters nationwide from Sept. 21 – 26, and the poll has a margin of error of 3.1 percent.
