Sixty-two percent of likely voters say the U.S. is headed down the wrong track, according to a new Rasmussen Reports poll.
The number marks a drop of three points from the 65% who said the same thing in a Rasmussen survey a week ago.
Here are how the results of the poll, released on Monday, break down:
- 30% of all those surveyed say the nation is headed in the right direction – an increase of one point from a week ago.
- 16% of Republicans say the U.S. is headed in the right direction, compared to 81% who say it is headed down the wrong track.
- 51% of Democrats say the nation is headed down the right track, compared to 40% who say it is headed in the wrong direction.
- 22% of independents say the country is headed in the right direction, while 67% say it is headed down the wrong track.
The poll, conducted Sept. 4-8, surveyed 2,500 likely voters. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.
