President Donald Trump's disapproval rating has hit an all-time high of 57 percent, with only 40 percent approving of the job he is doing, according to a Politico/Morning Consult poll released on Wednesday.

In addition, 49 percent of voters blame Trump for the government shutdown, which is 6 percentage points higher than when the shutdown began last month. Another 4 percent blame congressional Republicans, while only 35 percent say congressional Democrats are responsible for the shutdown.

In other results of the survey:

  • Forty-three percent support building a border wall, while 49 percent oppose it.
  • Only 7 percent of voters said that they back dedicating funding to a border wall if it was the only way to end the government shutdown, while 72 percent oppose dedicating funding to a barrier if it was the only way.
  • Thirty-four percent approve of dedicating funds to border security, but not a wall, to end the shutdown, but 51 percent are against that plan as well.
  • Fifty-seven percent believe it is likely that Russia “has compromising information” on Trump, compared to 31 percent who do not think it is likely.

The poll was conducted between January 18-22, surveying 1,996 registered voters. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 2 percentage points.
