Eighty-four percent of Americans want to keep Obamacare's Medicaid expansion, a Kaiser Health Tracking poll reveals.

Here are the highlights of the survey:

  • 69 percent of Republicans believe continuing federal funding for Medicaid expansion is important, compared to 95 percent of Democrats and 84 percent of independents.
  • 48 percent of those polled say lawmakers should not repeal Obamacare, while 47 percent say they should.
  • 16 percent of Republicans say they oppose repeal of the health care law, compared to 78 percent of Democrats and 47 percent of Republicans.

"The February 2017 Kaiser Health Tracking Poll finds that Americans have concerns about the shifting landscape of health care in this country," said a statement released with the poll results.

Here is how the rest of the survey breaks down:

  • 62 percent of those polled say health care in the U.S. is generally going in the wrong direction, compared to 30 percent who say it is on the right track.
  • 56 percent say they are "worried" about plans to repeal Obamacare, 53 percent are "hopeful," 45 percent are "confused," 38 percent are "angry" and 33 percent are "enthusiastic."
  • 51 percent say they have either been covered by Medicaid or have friends and family who have been, while 49 percent say they have no connection to the program.

The poll was conducted by the Kaiser Family Foundation from Feb. 13-19 and included a sampling of 1,160 adults living in the United States. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 3 percentage points.
