Americans favor Obamacare by a narrow 49-47 percent — the first time more people have supported the health care law than opposed it, a new CNN/ORC poll reveals.

Here are other highlights from the poll, which offer a mixed view of the Affordable Health Care Act:

  • 23 percent of Americans consider Obamacare a success, while 37 percent say it is a failure.
  • 22 percent say they and their families are better off with Obamacare, while 30 percent say they are worse off.
  • 14 percent rated health care is the most important issue facing the country, behind the economy (25 percent) and military/security (15 percent).
  • 82 percent believe it is "very likely" or "somewhat likely Trump will keep his campaign promise to repeal or replace Obamacare.

"More have opposed than favored the law in every CNN/ORC poll on this question from March 2010 until now," CNN reported.

"The shift in the law's favor stems largely from Democrats and independents, while views among Republicans haven't moved much.

"The incoming Trump administration and the Republican Congress that will accompany it have called repealing Obamacare a top priority, and health care generally has risen in priority in the eyes of Americans."
