Pelosi: Can Work With Paul Ryan

Sunday, 19 June 2016 04:20 PM EDT

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says she's hopeful she'll be able to work with House Speaker Paul Ryan – including on gun control and immigration – declaring the Democratic caucus remains more "united" than the GOP caucus.

In an interview with New York businessman and radio host John Catsimatidis' "The Cats Roundtable" on AM 970, the California Democratic lawmaker said she's optimistic about her party's chances for both the White House and Congress.

"I think we could today win everything," she declared. "Bless his heart, Donald Trump is the gift that keeps giving to us ... He has helped us enormously ... I think we can win it all."

Pelosi also predicted she'll have a good working relationship with Ryan.

"We have a disagreement on policy, but we agree that we should work together to find common ground," she said. "His caucus is not so unified, so not as reliable when it comes to a vote ... We respect each others' difference, but our caucus is more unified."

"When I say to him, 'I think we can pass this,' he can take my word for it," she added. "When he tries to pass it, well, we'll see."
