The Iraqi journalist who threw his shoes at former President George W. Bush is now running for parliament in Baghdad, BuzzFeed News reported.
Muntadhar al-Zaidi lobbed the footwear during a joint press conference with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki in 2008.
"This is a farewell kiss from the Iraqi people, you dog," he yelled in Arabic at Bush as he tried to bean the president.
"This is for the widows and orphans and all those killed in Iraq," he shouted before getting tackled by the prime minister's bodyguards and arrested. He spent nine months in prison for the prank.
The American president ducked, and both shoes sailed above him.
"That was a size 10 shoe he threw at me, you may want to know," Bush cracked at the time.
Al-Zaidi is now running for the Council of Representatives, the country’s legislative branch, BuzzFeed News reported. The election is scheduled for May 12.
