Patriots' Owner Flies Parkland Shooting Survivors to DC

The owner of the New England Patriots football team provided the team plane for students and families from Parkland, Florida to travel to Washington, D.C. for the March for Our Lives event set for Saturday, The Boston Globe reported.

Team owner Robert Kraft provided the plane for the families of the 17 victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting and for some of the students injured in the attack, Patriots spokesman Stacey James said.

The plane took off from Fort Lauderdale Thursday and will bring the students and families back home after the march, the Globe reported.

Thousands are expected at the Saturday march in Washington to call for more stringent gun control regulations, event organizers. Other protests are planned in cities around the country.

Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Fla., on Friday credited the students with legislative progress on gun issues. "Everything that’s happened so far has happened because of them," Deutch said during a CNN interview.
