'Double Down' Co-Author: Obama Legacy in Doubt Over Healthcare

By    |   Sunday, 10 November 2013 01:54 PM EST

President Barack Obama's second term in the White House hangs in the balance as the Affordable Care Act is unleashed on Americans, political writer Mike Halperin said Sunday.

"I think the credibility of his entire presidency is on the line, and the ability to work with Republicans, if he cannot lower the temperature on healthcare, if he cannot find a way to work together with the other party, in places, on healthcare," Halperin said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "I think his term is going to be very tough."

The co-author of "Double Down: Game Change 2012" participated in a roundtable discussion that touched on several topics, including Gov. Chris Christie's big win last week in New Jersey.

"Chris Christie is someone who is magical in a way politicians can be magical, like our last three presidents," Halperin said. "He wants to change the party. He wants to be a leader to change it. You can't say that about everybody else who people are talking about for '16."
