Former President Barack Obama will jet to Scotland next month — his first trip ever to the United Kingdom country — to help raise money for charity.
The ex-commander in chief will speak at a dinner organized by The Hunter Foundation, a group dedicated to eradicating poverty and promoting education, in Edinburgh on May 26th.
He will address top philanthropy and business leaders and also take questions in what will be one of his first major addresses since leaving office on Jan. 20.
"From the South Side of Chicago to the White House has been an epic, historic journey and it will be a true honor to hear that story from the man who made that journey," said Sir Tom Hunter, a businessman and philanthropist who founded The Hunter Foundation.
"We are both truly proud and delighted to be hosting the 44th President of the United States in Scotland at this event."
Profits from the event will be split between charities supporting young people in Scotland and the Obama Foundation, which was set up by the former president and his wife, former first lady Michelle.
Tickets for a table of 10 at the dinner are expected to go on sale for approximately £5,000 [$6,236], the BBC reports.
Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister of Scotland, said: "I am sure President Obama will have some words that many people in Scotland, and across the world, will want to hear. I looking look forward to hearing him and I am sure many people in Scotland will as well."
The Hunter Foundation has previously hosted Bill Clinton, George Clooney and Leonardo DiCaprio. So far, it has raised around £50 million [$62.3 million] for charity.
