Royce: US Has 'Opportunity' to Shut down NKorea Threats
Fox News' "America's Newsroom"

The United States needs to turn China's attention more toward the dangers posed by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's increasing aggressions and nuclear capabilities, Rep. Ed Royce, R-Calif., said Wednesday.

"The number one security risk, the threat to all 50 states, is the fact that North Korea now has a hydrogen bomb 17 times more powerful than the one that was used at Hiroshima," Rep. Royce told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "We have a situation where all the tests North Korea have done up until this last test is still not as powerful as the totality of what they have unleashed."

There is an opportunity to shut down this North Korean program, but only if the U.S. has Beijing's attention, Royce continued, because "their merchant bank and their agricultural bank continue to give the hard currency to North Korea it needs for this multi-billion program to run this build-up."

President Donald Trump has been firm in his warnings, Royce said, that the United States expects the international community to back efforts to head off North Korea before it is too late.

"We have a way to implode them, to cut off their currency with respect to sanctions," Royce said. "But we have to have that compliance."
