The National Republican Congressional Committee launched a paid advertisement campaign ahead of Tax Day targeting 28 vulnerable House Democrats for voting for the largest tax hike since World War II and making the lives of working families harder, the organization announced on Tuesday.
NRCC Spokesman Mike Marinella said that "vulnerable Democrats made a choice: higher taxes, tighter budgets, and more pain for working families. Voters will make theirs."
The ads were launched as the Republican Party tries to defend its fragile House majority in the upcoming midterm elections.
As part of its campaign, the GOP has for weeks been highlighting tax cuts, which the Democrats voted against last year.
The narrator of one of the advertisements declares, "This Tax Day … remember who made it worse. While Republicans fought to protect your hard-earned paychecks, [Rep.] Adam Gray[, D-Calif.,] voted for the largest tax hike since World War II."
"Adam Gray sided with Bernie & AOC to vote against critical tax relief for you. Higher costs, less freedom, more pressure on you," the narration continues.
"Adam Gray voted for higher taxes … and voted to make your life harder. This Tax Day … don't forget," it concludes.
In addition to Gray, the ad also targeted the following Democrats:
– Rep. Derek Tran, D-Calif.; and Rep. Dave Min, D-Calif.
– Rep. Darren Soto, D-Fla.; and Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Fla.
– Rep. Frank Mrvan, D-Ind.
– Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet, D-Mich.
– Rep. Don Davis, D-N.C.
– Rep. Nellie Pou, D-N.J.
– Rep. Gabe Vasquez, D-N.M.
– Rep. Dina Titus, D-Nev.; Rep. Susie Lee, D-Nev.; and Rep. Steven Horsford, D-Nev.
– Rep. Tom Suozzi, D-N.Y.; Rep. Laura Gillen, D-N.Y.; and Rep. Josh Riley, D-N.Y.
– Rep. Greg Landsman, D-Ohio; Rep. Marcy Kaptur, D-Ohio; and Rep. Emilia Sykes, D-Ohio
– Rep. Henry Cuellar, D-Texas; and Rep. Vicente Gonzalez, D-Texas
– Rep. Eugene Vindman, D-Va.
– Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez, D-Wash.
