Following the shooting death of two people at the Jacksonville Landing entertainment center that bans firearms on the premises, National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch tweeted to “end gun free zones or have the security in place to keep people safe in them.”

Jacksonville Landing forbids visitors from bringing a weapon onto the property, even if it is legally owned and carried, with only law enforcement officers being exempt, according to The Hill.

Dave Katz of Baltimore is suspected of killing two people and injuring nine others when he opened fire repeatedly during a Madden NFL 19 tournament at the GLHF Game Bar. Authorities said that Katz then killed himself.

The NRA has proposed numerous times an end to "gun-free zones," especially following a number of recent mass shootings.

For example, the NRA said following the mass shooting at a Parkland, Florida high school in February that schools should be "hardened" to protect against potential threats.

Opponents of the NRA’s proposal have demanded stricter gun laws, with some Democrats backing a ban on high-capacity weapons and raising the minimum age needed to buy a firearm.
