A 20-second ad released by the National Rifle Association on Monday attacks Hillary Clinton over
comments she recently made about the Supreme Court's ruling on guns.
The ad can be seen on the
NRA's Facebook page.
The ad against the Democratic presidential front-runner starts with the words "Hillary Clinton just doesn't get it," followed by a quote from the court's Heller v. D.C. decision: "The Second Amendment conferred an individual right to keep and bear arms."
Next, the ad plays audio of Clinton saying, "The Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment."
"No, Hillary. You're wrong," the ad ends.
The audio comes from a closed-door fundraiser held in New York last month and obtained by the
Washington Free Beacon.
"I'm going to speak out; I'm going to do everything I can to rally people against this pernicious, corrupting influence of the NRA, and we're going to do whatever we can," Clinton said at the fundraiser.
"I was proud when my husband took them on, and we were able to ban assault weapons, but he had to put a sunset on 10 years later. Of course [President George W.] Bush wouldn't agree to reinstate them."
Clinton went on: "We've got to go after this. And here again, the Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment. And I am going to make that case every chance I get."
The NRA's video had been viewed almost 230,000 views, more than 11,000 likes and more than 5,600 shares by Monday afternoon.
