N.Y. Conservative Party Tells UN 'Find a New Home'

The New York State Conservative Party (NYSCP) has called on the "anti-American" United Nations to move its headquarters outside the U.S.

The party sent its message with a press release on Wednesday, one day after President Donald Trump spoke at the U.N. and said the international institution "has such tremendous, tremendous potential but it's not even coming close to living up to that potential."

"New Yorkers once took pride that our city hosted the United Nations," NYSCP  Chairman Gerard Kassar said in the release.

"It was a symbol of hope after World War II, and it gave New York a special distinction as the 'Capital of the World.' Sadly, the institution has since devolved into a body dominated by anti-American, anti-Semitic, career bureaucrats. It is no longer a source of pride but of embarrassment."

Kassar pointed to decades of complaints about U.N. diplomats ignoring New York City's traffic and parking laws and ignoring tens of millions of dollars in unpaid city parking fines, The Washington Times reported.

"The U.N. has long treated New York with contempt, even as we house and protect it. The brazen disregard its diplomats show toward the laws of our city is symbolic of the organization's larger failings," Kassar said.

The NYSCP also noted the immense value of the U.N.'s East River location in midtown.

"That property is priceless," Kassar said. "New Yorkers would be far better served by a public park with a water view than by continuing to subsidize an institution that works against the interests of our nation and our allies.

"The time has come for the United Nations to find a new home — if any country would be willing to accept a body that has morally deteriorated to the point of uselessness. New York has been more than generous for nearly eight decades. It's someone else's turn."

According to the independent Council on Foreign Relations, every member of the U.N. is required to contribute to the organization's budget. The U.S. has been the largest donor since the body's founding in 1945.

During his Tuesday speech, Trump hailed the settling of seven wars without any help from the U.N.

"It's never happened before," Trump said. "It's never been anything like that. Very honored to have done it. It's too bad that I had to do these things instead of the United Nations doing them.

"And sadly, in all cases, the United Nations did not even try to help in any of them. I ended seven wars, dealt with the leaders of each and every one of these countries, and never even received a phone call from the United Nations offering to help in finalizing the deal."
