A New York City electrician claims two men attacked him on the subway because he was wearing a hat supporting President-elect Donald Trump.
Corey Cataldo, 24, told ABC7 News one person spotted his "Make America Great Again" hat and, after a few moments, the man started choking him. Someone else appeared to be intervening and helping Cataldo, but instead he pushed him against the train's window.
"The next thing I know, I have hands around my neck and I'm being choked," Cataldo told the news station. "I try to fight him off, and another gentleman comes over, pretends like he's going to help me and says 'get off of him.' He shoves me up against the wall, up against the window."
Cataldo was able to get away from the situation, which he said occurred Friday. He contacted the NYPD and officers are reportedly searching for the two alleged attackers.
There have been other reports of Trump supporters being attacked in the wake of his victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton in last week's presidential election. In one instance, a Chicago man said a group of people called him "one of those white boy Trump supporters" and attacked him after a car crash.
In another case, a Boston man said he was beaten outside of a bar because he had expressed support for Trump while talking with his friends inside.
