The New York Times on Wednesday issued a correction to its story on President Donald Trump's Tuesday night rally in Tennessee, updating the number of people in attendance after Trump blasted the newspaper for the mistake.
The Times initially reported about 1,000 attended the rally, but according to the fire marshal's estimate there were about 5,500 people there that night.
"An earlier version of this article cited an incorrect figure for the number of people attending President Trump's rally," the Times wrote in its correction. "While no exact figure is available, the fire marshal's office estimated that approximately 5,500 people attended the rally, not about 1,000 people."
Times reporter Julie Davis announced the correction on Twitter, seeming to take a swipe at Trump in the process.
