Only MSNBC is being allowed to deliver live coverage of South Carolina's Democratic convention Saturday, squeezing out CNN, C-SPAN, and Fox at an event where 21 presidential candidates are expected to speak, the Washington Examiner reported.
CNN filed a complaint, the news outlet reported.
The South Carolina Democratic Party pulled the plug on the networks Monday, according to the Examiner. All three of the shunned outlets had planned live coverage.
In an email to the media, and without explanation, the party announced MSNBC had the exclusive rights to cover the event live, the Examiner reported.
"Never has what is an open event given exclusive rights to a single network," C-SPAN political director Steve Scully told the Examiner.
"We'll deal with 49 other state Democratic Parties. It's ridiculous. It's an open event," he added. "We're not happy."
