A sudden deterioration of the security situation in Egypt has become so serious that Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi has been forced to call a state of emergency and send soldiers out into the streets to make civilian arrests. These are tactics reminiscent of the Mubarak regime, and are fueling the anger of the protesters, whose lot has worsened since Mubarak was forced from office in 2011. But it is also a sign that Morsi has lost control of the country.
