Coming to a peace agreement in the Middle East is the most difficult deal in the world to make, President Donald Trump said Thursday.
During a joint White House press conference with Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah, the emir of Kuwait, Trump addressed the Middle East peace process.
"The Palestinians and Israelis, we are discussing, we are working. They say it is the world's most complex and difficult deal, you know that. But it is something that could happen," Trump said.
"I think we have a chance of doing it. I think the Palestinians would like to see it happen. I think the Israelis would like to see it happen. Usually when you have two groups that would like to see something happen, good things can happen.
"I think there is a chance that there could be peace. But again, I say that a little bit reluctantly. We're going to give it our best."
Jared Kushner, Trump's senior adviser and son-in-law, has been tasked with helping the Middle East peace process. In July, however, Kushner said that finding a peace deal might not be possible.
"And there may be no solution, but it's one of the problem sets that the president asked us to focus on," Kushner said. "So we're going to focus on it and try to come to the right conclusion in the near future."
