As Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s former lawyer, got set to testify before a House committee, the Republican National Committee blasted his “history of lying to Congress.”

In an email to supporters, Steve Guest of the RNC said: “No one should believe a word Cohen says in his testimony. By holding this hearing, Democrats are hoping this established liar creates a media spectacle to distract from the historic progress President Trump is making overseas with North Korea.”

And he added: “It is worth remembering that Cohen has a documented history of lying to Congress.”

Guest quoted the special counsel’s office as saying Cohen’s lies were “deliberate and premeditated” and he made a “deliberate effort to use his lies to set the tone and shape the court of his talks with Congress.”

In his email, Guest also linked to an RNC video aimed at Cohen entitled: “Have Fun in Prison.”

Guest noted it “highlights how it was only after Cohen was caught in his criminal behavior that he began lying about President Trump in an effort to save face.”
