One man is dead after being hit in the head by a stray bullet and two other people were injured after shots were fired, possibly during an altercation between rival rappers, in front of the Trump International Beach Resort in Miami on Sunday afternoon, according to Miami-Dade police officials.
The man has been identified as Mohamad Jradi, 43, who was hit while sitting in his car in a nearby shopping plaza after finishing his shift at Hertz Rental Car in Sunny Isles Beach, reports The Miami Herald.
Several witnesses said they saw a fight breaking out between two groups of rappers outside the hotel before shots were fired, reports Miami ABC affiliate WPLG. Police, however, have not confirmed that rival rappers were involved in the gunfire.
The suspects were armed with several handguns and an AK-47 weapon, WPLG reported, quoting police.
Kaylyn Marie Long, 19, was shot and injured while sitting in an SUV outside the hotel, and a 5-year-old boy on vacation from Texas was grazed by a flying bullet.
A witness to the shooting told The Miami Herald that Long is the girlfriend of rapper NBA YoungBoy, who had been scheduled to perform at Hard Rock Stadium. Several people were detained at the festival after the shootings.
In a separate shooting, another person, who has not been identified, suffered minor injuries after being shot at the westbound entrance of the William Lehman Causeway, which links Aventura and Sunny Isles Beach. Miami-Dade and Sunny Isles Beach police are working to determine if the two shootings are connected.
The Trump building carries President Donald Trump's surname through a licensing agreement with the owner.
