The father of President Donald Trump's son-in-law is reportedly working on a deal to buy the Miami Marlins baseball team.
Manhattan real-estate mogul Charles Kushner is part of a group negotiating with current owner and art dealer Jeffrey Loria, according to reports by ESPN and Bloomberg News.
Kushner is the father of Jared Kushner, who's married to Trump's eldest daughter, Ivanka Trump, and is a senior adviser to the president.
Forbes reported earlier Thursday that Loria had a "handshake agreement" to sell his ballclub for $1.6 billion to a New York City developer.
According to Bloomberg News, there is no word on how the deal would be structured or which member of the Kushner family, if any, would be named as the owner of the team if an agreement is reached.
Loria bought the team in 2002 for about $160 million, the outlet reported.
ESPN noted, in 2012, Jared Kushner submitted a bid to buy the Los Angeles Dodgers, but withdrew from the bidding.
If Kushner were to be the managing partner, approval might be difficult from a public relations standpoint, ESPN reported, noting scrutiny faced by the Trump White House. Charles Kushner also served time in prison for tax evasion, witness tampering, and making illegal campaign contributions.
