The average cost of a Memorial Day cookout this year is roughly $30, 10% more than it was in 2023 under Bidenomics.
That's according to WalletHub, which estimated that 52% of Americans were planning to barbecue over the holiday weekend.
Further, of the 43.8 million Americans who are traveling over the Memorial Day weekend, 38.4 million were planning to drive, enduring gas prices that are up 4% year over year, sitting at an average of $3.70 per gallon, according to WalletHub.
The sticker shock of the holiday weekend costs comes days after the Cook Political Report released a poll showing that 56% of swing-state voters believe Republican presumptive nominee Donald Trump could get prices under control compared to 40% who believe President Joe Biden could.
"Workers and families are literally paying the price for Joe Biden's failed economic policies, with prices on household essentials like gas, food, rent, and diapers skyrocketing," Trump campaign national spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said.
