Rep. Mark Walker, R-N.C., called for Rep. Justin Amash to be stripped of his committee seat now that he’s leaving the Republican Party.

Amash, who represents a Michigan district, announced on Thursday he was becoming an independent. As a Republican, he was the first party member in Congress to call for an impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump.

But Walker, a member of the House GOP leadership team,  tweeted on Thursday: “Amash left the @freedomcaucus now he’s leaving the @GOP. The @HouseGOP never left @justinamash - we simply ran out of space for his ego. However, we should make sure he leaves Conference and his committee.”

The Washington Examiner noted Amash is on the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee and serves on its subcommittees for civil rights and national security.
