President Barack Obama's claim that Republican concerns about Syrian refugees being infiltrated by terrorists are simply a fear of
"widows and orphans" is "baffling," says one of the people hoping to be the next president, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
"We see the same intelligence the president does. For him to say something like that runs counter to information we know that he has," Rubio, who sits on the Senate Intelligence Committee, said Wednesday on Fox News Channel's
"The Kelly File."
Evidence shows Islamic terrorists have tried to use drug trafficking networks from Mexico to get people into the country posing as Syrian refugees, Rubio said.
"But it goes beyond that," he said. People also try to use doctors' visas, and, like the San Bernardino killers, a fiancée visa to get into the United States, he added.
Still, Rubio said, he opposes front-runner Donald Trump's
call to stop all Muslims from entering the country.
"If you take it to so extreme, the king of Jordan, an important ally, his son attends Georgetown University," he said. "He is Muslim. They would not be allowed it enter the country."
