Marc Lotter, Donald Trump’s campaign director of strategic communications, says the president’s unfulfilled 2016 campaign promises will make a “great platform” for 2020.

Lotter make his comments during an interview Tuesday morning on CNN’s “New Day.”

Asked by CNN’s John Berman about promises on erasing the national the debt and replacing Obamacare, Lotter replied: "In a way, that makes a great platform for the president's 2020 campaign to make sure that we can continue to work on those things that he has done. It's been a great two and a half years, and we're looking forward to another four more years..."

Lotter blamed Democrats in Congress for blocking Trump’s efforts to deal with fiscal concerns.

“Well, it’s something that continues to need to be worked on,” he said. “And what the president will say is not only do we need a president who is focused on these actions, but we also need Congress. What we need are more conservatives with a fiscally responsible outlook that will cut spending.”
