Songwriter Bruce Roberts, who penned the duet "No More Tears (Enough is Enough) back in the 1970s, has reportedly approached Madonna to record a track protesting President Donald Trump that he plans to lay over the original song, TMZ reported Saturday.
The disco hit went to number 6 on Billboard's Dance Club Charts Friday, but just with the "Enough is Enough" chorus, retitled as "Enough is Enough 2017."
Sources told TMZ that Roberts, who did not return a call from the tabloid website, wants Madonna to both rewrite and sing the lyrics to show her opposition to Trump.
According to TMZ's sources, Roberts isn't looking to make the song a personal attack on Trump, but instead to protest the direction in which he's taking the company.
Roberts reportedly wants Madonna, who also did not respond, to record her track as soon as possible. He plans to keep Streisand's and Summer's iconic voices in the song's hook, but to add Madonna in as well.
Roberts has also written for Whitney Houston, Elton John, Alice Cooper, and Dolly Parton.
Madonna came under fire from Trump, who called her "disgusting" for comments she made during the Jan. 21 Women's March, when she said several profanities and said she'd "thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House."
