Outgoing Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Thursday took a swipe at President-elect Donald Trump regarding facts on crime statistics, the Washington Examiner reported.
Speaking at a Washington, D.C. event, Lynch was asked about Trump's assertion while campaigning in October that the murder rate was at is highest in 45 years, despite FBI data that says otherwise.
"Every administration needs to find their footing," the Examiner quoted Lynch. "I've always found facts to be a great help."
According to FBI 2014 data, the rate of murder and non-negligent manslaughter in the U.S. is at is lowest point than any other time between 1965 and 2009, the Examiner reported.
Trump has nominated Sen. Jeff Sessions to replace Lynch as attorney general.
