The impeachment of President Donald Trump was based on assumptions and presumptions, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., owe Americans an apology for what they did, House Republican Conference Chairwoman Liz Cheney, R-Wyo., said Wednesday.

Schiff, D-Calif., should apologize for "all the lies he told," Cheney told Fox News' "Outnumbered Overtime," and Pelosi should apologize not only for her role in Trump's impeachment but for what she continues to do and for her actions during Trump's State of the Union address.

"That's an official document of the House of Representatives," Cheney said. "By doing that she disgraced herself. She brought dishonor to the House of Representatives, [and] she is the one who owes people an apology."

Meanwhile, every time Schiff, Pelosi, or House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., speaks, it helps Republicans, Cheney said.

"The American people see when they hear them talking about this never ending investigation, the never-ending impeachment that they're going to attempt to undertake , the American people see why elections matter so much and they see why it's so important for us to make sure we have the majority back come November," Cheney said.

Meanwhile, there is a "tremendous sense of unity, excitement, momentum" on the Republican side of the aisle, and Trump's speech was "tremendous," Cheney said.

"This was truly one of the very best," Cheney said. "We as Republicans are absolutely focused on November. We are focused on making sure we get the majority back. And we know the more the American people hear us talking about the real results of the Trump administration, the results of this president, and contrast that with the absolutely sorry and sad and petty performance you saw from the Democrats last night, the more we know we are going to be able to prevail in November."
