Conway Defends Decision to Revoke Acosta's Pass

By    |   Thursday, 08 November 2018 10:59 AM

Presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway Thursday defended the decision to revoke CNN reporter Jim Acosta's press pass, saying she is concerned about the aide who had tried to take a microphone away from him and hand it to another reporter.

"She was just trying to get the microphone back after the president had entertained a question from the CNN reporter and was moving on," Conway told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "The reporter from NBC was already standing, ready to ask his question. She was just doing her job, which was to reclaim the microphone that belongs to the federal government."

Trump and Acosta had sparred after disagreeing on immigration, with the president lambasting the reporter as a "rude" person and slamming CNN's ratings before the intern tried to take the microphone from Acosta.

"I don't think anybody should have, any young woman particularly, should have someone swiping away, grabbing the microphone back," said Conway. "That's very unfortunate.:"

Meanwhile, there have been many complaints about Trump's "tone," but Conway said he has had "no choice" as he has to defend himself and his family, while pointing to Democrats such as California Rep. Maxine Waters.

"You want to talk about red-hot tones, there it is," she said. "It is dangerous. I have been physically touched by people. I have been yelled at, my kids have been threatened. Tucker Carlson, he had a mob show up at his house last night. Let's talk about red-hot rhetoric. I will stand here all day long in my four-inch heels and talk about it, but I will not let it be cast as one-sided and the president's fault."
