Democratic law professor Katie Porter pulled ahead of Rep. Mimi Walters, R-Calif., on Tuesday night in California's 45th District — by a hair, The Mercury News reported.

In the House race to represent the Irvine, Calif., area of Orange County, Porter pulled ahead of Walters by 261 votes — a razor-thin margin of 0.2 percent, the Mercury News reported.

On election night, Walters led Porter by more than 3 percentage points.
