Karl Rove: GOP Will Take Senate at Least by December

By    |   Sunday, 02 November 2014 11:34 AM

Republican operative Karl Rove believes his party will take control of the Senate, and it won't come down to a January 6 runoff in Georgia as many fear.

Appearing on "Fox News Sunday," Rove said he believes Republicans will have a majority by the December 6 runoff in Louisiana if not on Election Day Tuesday.

With several races still tight, the two runoffs threaten to drag out who ends up controlling the Senate.

Louisiana Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu is in a "jungle primary" of multiple candidates. Since neither she nor Republican Bill Cassidy are expected to get 50 percent of the vote, that would put them in the December runoff.

In Georgia, Democrat Michelle Nunn is neck-and-neck with Republican David Perdue. But neither has 50 percent of the vote, which Georgia requires. That runoff would be January 6.

"I doubt it will be 50-49 with the outcome to be decided in Georgia," Rove said of the GOP takeover prospects.
