House Democrats will never be satisfied with the release of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report, despite assurances it’ll be handed over to Congress shortly, GOP political consultant and policy adviser Karl Rove said Tuesday.
In remarks on Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom,” Rove commented on Attorney General William Barr’s aim to release the report with redactions within a week.
“I heard that no matter what [Barr] does, it will be unacceptable” to the Democrat-led House Appropriations Committee,” Rove said. “Some were pointed in their comments that they wanted everything, and the law be darned… they wanted an unredacted report and they would make up their minds to what would be released and not released.”
Rove also said he was looking forward to an expected June release of Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s report.
“I think he will have a blockbuster report,” Rove predicted, adding; “We know from his report on Hillary Clinton's email server, that he is very direct and very candid and very forceful in saying what was done right and what he thinks was done wrong. That is going to be a powerful report reflecting on a lot of things inside the FBI, inside the Justice Department in the previous administration that ought to give us all pause.”
