Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., a 2020 Democratic presidential contender, has been accused of lying about smoking marijuana in college while listening to Snoop Dogg and Tupac, according to The New York Times.

The California lawmaker during a Monday appearance on the radio show "The Breakfast Club" mentioned she previously smoked weed during her days at Howard University. She was also asked about her taste in music but was not specific about what dates she listened to Snoop Dogg and Tupac, yet many conservative news outlets quickly pointed out both artists released albums after Harris graduated from Howard in 1986.

"What do you listen to?" DJ Envy asked on the radio show. "What does Kamala Harris listen to?"

Charlamagne Tha God then chimed in: "What were you listening to when you was high? What was on? What song was it?"

"Was it Snoop?" another host asks.

"Oh yeah, definitely Snoop," Harris responds. "Tupac, for sure."

Ian Sams, the national press secretary for Harris' campaign, told Newsweek that "she was talking about music she listens to."

Asked about whether she ever smoked marijuana, Harris replied: "I have. And I inhaled. I did inhale. It was a joint."

Asked if she had gotten high in college, she said "yes."
