Poll: 88 Percent Want Drug Companies to Include Prices in Ads

Seventy-nine percent of adults say the cost of prescription drugs is unreasonable, a new poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation reveals.

Just 17 percent said the cost of drugs is reasonable.

Here are highlights from the poll released Friday.

• 88 percent favor requiring drug companies to include list prices in ads.
• 88 percent support making it easier for generic drugs to come to market.
• 86 percent favor allowing the government to negotiate with drug companies to get a reduced price for those on Medicare.
• 80 percent say Americans should be allowed to buy drugs imported from Canada.
• 76 percent support placing an annual limit on out-of-pocket drug costs for those with Medicare.
• 63 percent favor increasing taxes on drug companies whose prices are too high.

The poll, conducted Feb. 14-24, surveyed 1,440 adults. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
