Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, on Friday tweeted that the Justice Department is currently investigating former Vice President Joe Biden over “conflicts of interest.”
Cornyn, who is a member of the Senate Judiciary and Intelligence committees and close with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., tweeted that “the Trump Justice Department is investigating foreign government influence, VP Biden conflicts of interest, and possible corruption.”
A spokesperson for Cornyn told The Detroit News that the senator was referring to U.S. Attorney John Durham, who is located in New Haven, Conn., and is leading a probe into the FBI’s investigation of Russian election interference and possible collusion with President Donald Trump’s campaign.
Cornyn added on Twitter that Justice is also investigating “the provenance of the bogus opposition research compiled for the Clinton campaign produced by an ex-British spy,” referring to the dossier that former British intelligence agent Christopher Steele compiled.
President Donald Trump referred reporters to Attorney General William Barr when asked if the Justice Department is investigating Biden.
"Well, that you’d have to ask Attorney General Barr, but I can tell you just as an observer, what I saw Biden do with his son, he is pillaging these countries and he is hurting us,” he said.
