Jimmy Carter, 90, Undergoes Liver Surgery

Former President Jimmy Carter underwent surgery Monday at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta to remove as "a small mass" from his liver.

A statement from the Carter Center said he was expected to make a full recovery, CNN reports.

Carter, 90, the second-oldest living president, recently releasing a new autobiography, "A Full Life," and has been promoting it in media appearances.

Carter’s brother Billy and sisters Ruth and Gloria all died of pancreatic cancer, along with the former president’s parents, James Earl Carter Sr. and Lillian Gordy Carter.
